Free numeracy courses for UVW members

UVW is launching a project to develop numeracy skills for migrant, low-paid and precarious workers.

In collaboration with City Lit Europe’s largest centre for adult education. UVW is offering free and bespoke numeracy courses for members who are 19 or over and don’t already have a GCSE grade C/4 or higher in Maths.

Monica Clarke at City lit said: “Very often students after enjoying a course with City Lit, will go on to study further and progress to higher levels of study. Studying maths can also help you change your job and gain new skills. We are committed to developing a course for tailored for UVW members needs”.

The course runs in English, and is open to all UVW member who are 19 or over. The content of the course is flexible and is led by needs of members, we will start by looking at:

– understand your payslip
– work out your tax and national insurance
– improve the way you manage your wages and expenses
– improve your maths skills to change your job
* Or any other topics you would like the Maths tutor to cover

Members are invited to enrol on the course at a one-off taster course on 18 March, 11am – 2pm at Casa UVW, 140 Cambridge Heath Road, London E1 5QJ.
